Hello and welcome to how to be a mortgage broker.

I'm Jamie Ushko.

And hi, I'm Jenn Marx.

This trailer episode is a sneak peek into the upcoming season.

We want to share our inspiration for starting.

In the show, what you can expect in upcoming episodes of season one and a little bit about who the show is for.

So in the first season of how to be a mortgage broker, we're going to cover precise topics.

In short, 15 to 30 minute shows.

Topics are going to range from how to get started from exam prep, to interviewing brokerages, and we'll go into detail about what to look for in a brokerage, how to leverage your old job before you quit.

Discuss how to thrive while you wait for your exam results and how to crush it.

First, week, month and year.

We're going to talk about how to secure referral partners, how to create a client journey, and all that good stuff.

We're going to have special guest interviews with new brokers and some of the most amazing mentors in the business.

We will dive into special case study episodes with more advanced tips, like how to deal with different types of down payment.

The best ways to help your self-employed clients and how to avoid client disappointment.

Hint you can't always avoid it.

Each episode will end with one golden negative information that you can put into practice right away.

So let's start at the beginning.

Jamie, what's your true inspiration for starting this podcast?

Well, I became a mortgage agent in June this year and before jumping into mortgages.

My background was in science research, education and guaranteed paychecks.

So naturally before even signing up for the mortgage broker exam, I started to do research.

I wanted to know everything.

I wanted to know how to be successful, how we can prepare what I can do to make the transition from my old job seamless, and find out what my first few months would be like so I.

Could plan it.

Out and what I found was that it's really hard to find this information and right away I thought, well this seems unnecessary.

'cause I know that there's a lot of knowledge.

Out there, so my inspiration for this podcast is to have everything that you need to get started in one easy to find place, but not only that, it's for the listeners and us to grow and learn together as we make our way into this vast mortgage universe.

I figured you know if I need to learn all of this from scratch, I might as well share what I learn as I go so that maybe someone else can benefit from it too.

And then of course my next thought was, well, I need a true expert to balance out my newness, both in business and in the podcast.

And then I met Jen, my amazing mentor, Jen Marks and yeah, the rest is history.

So Jen, what's your inspiration for starting this podcast?

Well, if I'm going to be honest, my inspiration was you.

Your tenacity and willingness to learn was really admirable and to be as new as you are and to just want to go out on this project and do it.

I couldn't help but say yes.

I mean I'd be a fool not to.

I guess I've always liked the idea of sharing my knowledge and didn't really realize how valuable.

It was until I was no talking to you.

And you know you kind of don't realize how much you've learned over the 24 plus years you've been in banking and and as I was providing all of the answers to a lot of your questions, I thought, yeah, we we.

I have a lot to offer and I would love to contribute, so I'm I'm really stoked for this.

I've I've done local radio in the past and it made me excited.

It made me think I want to do a podcast 'cause I love sharing information.

I love helping people and honestly it's I.

I do believe it's the best job for myself personally, but to provide information to people that are thinking about getting into the industry is huge because.

Even the course doesn't necessarily prepare you for the job.

The job is monumental, so I'm excited to talk about it.

And in our experience I I do believe it was the best job for me I.

Absolutely love it.

But it's not for everyone, so it's exciting to to talk from from that angle and discuss that.

I've honestly been doing this for as.

As an independent broker for 12 years, so it's it's going to be fun talking about it, and it's something that I do really enjoy.

Enjoy discussing.

Yeah, I know you must love talking about it because Jenn has answered my calls from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM for the last three months.

Yeah, you've been a busy girl.

Jamie hit the ground running, so it's it's.

Been fun.

So it's we we got really lucky.

I think when we found each other, I think we knew almost right away that that that we're going to have some a good connection like I guess a good working relationship.

And we've, you know, developed our own friendship.

Outside of that, so it's been nice.

We found each other by chance, but we've stuck together by choice.

Yeah, and it's interesting 'cause it's a little bit of interviewing and getting to know people, but in that first interview, how much do you really get to know someone?

So it is a little bit of luck and I'm excited.

I'm stoked that our personalities match really well.

I mean, it's been.

It's been great.

It's been really organic and I really do appreciate your willingness to learn and.

And what you bring to the table?

'cause it?

It's exciting it.

It keeps me excited to have people in my life who are still excited about mortgages.

'cause sometimes it can be a little draining you know and other days it just fills up your card.

So it's a it's good stuff for sure, and we're we're very very very lucky I think.

But yeah, it's formed into a good friendship and now we get to help people so that that's part.
